About Intel
Intel, the world's largest chipmaker, is also a leading manufacturer
of computer, networking and communications products. Intel was founded
with the vision of designing and manufacturing very complex silicon
"chips." The company’s first products were semiconductor memory
chips. In 1996 they celebrated the 25th anniversary of Intel’s introduction
of the world’s first microprocessor, an invention which sparked
a computer revolution that has changed the world. Over 80 percent
of the personal computers in use around the world today are based
on Intel® Architecture microprocessors. Today, Intel supplies the
personal computing industry with the chips, boards, systems and
software that are the "ingredients" of the most popular computing
architecture. These products help create advanced computing systems
for personal computer users.
Product Info
HEAT currently integrates with one product from Intel:
LANDesk Management Suite
Intel LANDesk Management Suite 6.2 continues to be the "de facto
standard" in today's industry, as the first system management tool
to take advantage of heterogeneous environments that contain platforms
or operating systems such as Microsoft Windows* 98 and Novell NetWare*
5.0. Intel LANDesk Management Suite can manage environments that
have hundreds or even thousands of clients. It offers benefits throughout
a PC's life cycle, from software deployment through ongoing management
and protection.
Intel LANDesk Management Suite consists of tools that can be used
to help manage Windows NT or Novell NetWare networks. These tools
can be used to manage software distribution and metering, remotely
control client workstations, and monitor servers.
Summary of Integration
Intel’s LANDesk Inventory Database contains the hardware and software
inventory for individual PCs. HEAT 5.0 has the capability to transfer
an inventory item for a machine from the LANDesk database into a
call ticket. Additionally, with LANDesk a user can remotely control
another PC with the use of LANDesk’s remote control WVIEWNT.EXE
(distributed with LANDesk 6.2). The remote control standalone can
accept arguments such as an IP address of the machine to be remotely
controlled.
Business Benefit
Intel LANDesk Management Suite provides the ability to manage desktop
resources (e.g. personal computers, printers, applications, etc.)
without physically requiring a technician to go to the desktop.
The ability to remotely solve desktop issues can reduce the frequency
and cost of sending technicians into the field to solve those types
of problems. Working together, HEAT and LANDesk, provide the help
desk with the opportunity to increase first call problem resolution
