Artisoft, Inc. Purchases Paging Products from IKON

On April 19. 1999, Artisoft, Inc. acquired the line of desktop paging products previously developed and marketed by IKON Office Solutions, including Alfie, WinBEEP and Wireless Messaging for Exchange (WMX). Artisoft's Communications Software Group (CSG), located in Tucson, Arizona, will continue to sell and support the acquired desktop paging products worldwide.

WinBEEP 32 for Networks

With WinBEEP 32 for Networks, everyone in your organization can send full-text messages to pagers (or laptops with pager cards). Any user on the LAN can send messages to a central paging server...without the cost and administrative hassle of a modem on each PC or paging entry terminals.

Continuing in the WinBEEP tradition, Artisoft WinBEEP 32 for Networks was designed to enable full-text messaging pages from the Windows 95/NT LAN or WAN to any alphanumeric pager or mobile PC with a pager card. Users can schedule reminder pages to be sent at the time they need them and send predefined messages without retyping them.

Summary of Integration

Using an Auto Task, HEAT generates a text file with ticket information in it and puts the file in a mutual directory. WinBEEP will read the directory, pick up the file and page the assignee with the necessary information. 

Business Benefit

The HEAT/WinBEEP integration provides the ability for the HEAT user to page a technician with a click of a button automatically. HEAT can pass information from fields within HEAT to WinBEEP as an argument for such things as CallID, Call Description, or customer information. This allows the technician to get call ticket information quickly without needing to log into HEAT.
